- Eating in proportions: Increase your vegetable, salads, beans and fruit intake, cutting the intake of high-calorie foods like cheese, butter, meat, fish, etc.
- Opt for juices as beverages instead of going with heavy cream smoothies or sundaes and alcoholic beverage. You can save a lot of calories through this.
- You can also go for sweetened yoghurt for desserts.
- Wisely select your dressing. Avoid cream based dressing always go for vinegar based dressing.
- If you are going for a dinner at a restaurant try avoiding appetizers, especially when they are fried foods. Sometimes these appetizers are more calories containing than your main course dish. Surprised??
- Don’t over eat. If you have food left after your dinner pack them in an airtight sealed bag and refrigerate.
- Instead of fried meat prefer grilled ones. Sauté your vegetables in a lesser amount of oil.

Egg White Omelet and Vegetables
A dish with lots of antioxidants, vitamins and proteins.
Ingredients:
- 4 egg whites, beaten
- 1 cup spinach,chopped, rinsed and dried
- 1/4 cup mushrooms diced
- 1/4 cup carrots diced
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper diced
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Salt n pepper to taste
- Dried herbs
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Method:
- In pan heat oil.
- Add all the veggies and cook for about 1 minute or so till they get soft.
- Add salt and pepper to them and mix well.
- In the egg white bowl add salt and pepper and mix well.
- Pour the egg white into the pan and let it cook till your omelet becomes fluffy.
- Garnish with dried herbs and serve hot.

Broccoli Stuffed Chicken Breasts
A tasty way of losing weight.
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless
- 1 cup blanched and chopped broccoli
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt n pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
Method:
- Beat the chicken to even them out. Keep aside for 30 minutes.
- Make pockets in the chicken breasts and refrigerate for the next 1 hour.
- For the filling take a bowl.
- Add broccoli, parmesan, lemon juice, olive oil, salt n pepper.
- Fill the chicken breasts with this mixture. Bulging mixtures is good but try not to over stuff it thereby splitting its ends.
- Spray a baking tray with olive oil and keep these chicken breasts in it.
- Sprinkle bread crumbs over them and grill them in a pre heated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped parsley.

Gnocchi and Leek Bake
A brain food…
Ingredients:
- 4 cups gnocchi
- 3 large leeks sliced
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup baby spinach
- Salt n pepper to taste
Method:
- In a pan heat oil and add the leeks.
- Add salt n pepper and cover it to cook for 5 minutes.
- In the meanwhile cook the gnocchi by putting them in boiling water for 5 – 7 minutes or follow the instructions on the pack.
- Spray a baking tray with olive oil and layer it with the cooked leeks.
- Drain the gnocchi and layer them over the leeks.
- Top them with half of the cheese.
- Pour the tomato sauce over and make the final layer with the cheese.
- Bake the dish in a pre heated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.

Chicken with Lime
A nice and easy healthy dish for your dinner.
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup olive/vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 shallot finely chopped
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons red chili flakes
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- Salt n pepper
Method:
- Sprinkle salt over the clean chicken thighs to make them soft.
- In a flat bottomed dish mix lemon juice, vegetable oil, garlic, shallots, sugar, soy sauce, chili flakes and parsley.
- Mix well so that the sugar dissolves.
- Sprinkle some pepper on the chicken and grill it for 7 minutes each on side.
- Dip the chicken in the lemon juice made and pan fry for 5 minutes.
- Serve hot.

Chicken Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 2 chicken breast
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt n pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Tomato slices
- Onion rings
- Burger buns or garlic and rosemary focaccia bread
- 2 Cheese slices
- 2 tablespoon southwest sauce
Method:
- In a bowl mix lemon juice, olive oil, salt n pepper.
- Dredge the chicken pieces in the mixture and grill them for 5 minutes each side.
- Take the pre buttered burger buns and grill for 1 – 2 minutes
- Layer the chicken pieces with the cheese slices and grill for another 2 minutes or until the cheese melts.
- Put the chicken fillet on the burger bun and top it with tomato slices and onion rings.
- Add the southwest sauce.
- Serve hot.
